2nd Annual Family Harvest Party

On Friday, October 28, 2011 we had our 2nd Annual Family Harvest Party here in Dallas. It is a tradition we started last year, because we want to try to instill family values into the kids. Since we (myself & cousins) were kids, we have always loved family get-togethers. So, why not instill those same values into the kids? It will teach them how to love, share, and be unified, especially in times of need.

We also wanted to start this tradition as an alternative to Trick-or-Treating for Halloween, as Halloween is not the same nowadays. It has become much too dangerous...actually from a Christian standpoint, looking at the history of Halloween, its quite evil. So, we decided to show the kids how they can still have a good time without door to door Trick-or-Treating.

We decided to call it a Harvest Party because indeed this is the season for harvest. It is a season to be thankful for many blessings, as well as think back on all the seeds that we have sown throughout the year, which will ultimately lead to a mighty harvest reaping. The adults talked to the kids about reaping and sowing, and asked them what type of seeds did they sow throughout the year.

They had a blast! The kids played with balloons, watched movies, ate popcorn, ate hot dogs & chips, played pin the nose on the pumpkin, and dozed off in their sleeping bags for the sleepover. I would love to have our 3rd or 4th annual party back home in New Orleans, so other family members can participate. We will try to make that happen. Until next time...Be Blessed, and have a Bountiful Harvest!
