Straight Outta....the Box Office!

This is my follow-up post to my previous Blog post titled: "Straight Outta". Just as I figured, the movie Straight Outta Compton blew the Box Office Records out the park. The movie's Gross Earnings for the opening weekend of August 14-16, 2015 was $56,100,000! Remember in my previous post I said, let's see how much the film will earn, who will reap the financial benefits of the film, and where will the money go? Well, it looks as though Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, & Universal Studios will earn the bulk of the Revenue generated from this film. With Ice Cube & Dr. Dre's collective earnings or Net Worth from over the years, they should start their own Distribution Company, which would allow more African-American Artists,  Producers, and Film Makers to capitalize on their investments! The other day I found out about a woman in Geismar, La. (Just outside of Baton Rouge) who had been brutally killed by her estranged husband with a baseball bat. Yes, a bat! How cruel and vicious is that?!! Not only did the guy beat her to death with a baseball bat, but he hit her 18 year-old son with the same bat, causing injury to his arm. Yes he survived the ordeal, but this young man will definitely need prayers, because now he has to live with this for the rest of his life. I pray that by the grace & strength of God he will continue to pursue all endeavors and go on to make his mother proud! The victim's name was Monica Johnson. She was a beautiful woman. She had actually taken the necessary steps to get away from her crazy husband. At the time of her death she actually had a restraining order against her husband. Unfortunately, he did not adhere to it as he chose t

Straight Outta....

Hmmm...how do I approach this? I'll just start by saying this.... The movie "Straight Outta Compton" will be hitting theaters this weekend. Yes, I used to listen to N.W.A. back in the day, hell most of us did at Henry Ford Junior High in Avondale, La. However, as you grow & learn...you change. People change. So, knowing what I know now about the music industry & how Hip-Hop has drastically changed over the years, I paused for a moment when I heard about the movie. I paused and thought, do I really want to go see this movie? Do I really want to contribute to the further destruction of our people? Then I paused again and thought...why NOT just look at it in a different perspective? Keedy, this would be another learning opportunity for your analytical brain. Think of it as a Research or journalistic approach. Don't Research Analysts & Journalists seek out facts? Don't they look for truth? Don't they seek out for answers or to validate stories? We
