'Red Tails' Sting Like Scorpions

Historical Background:
WWII was a war between U.S. and Germany. This was the time of Hitler's Socialism or Nazi regime. During this war, of course there was tremendous segregation. Sad to say, segregation not only took precedence in civilian life, but military life as well. Blacks were allowed in the military, but could not engage in any real combat.

And so the Revolutionary innovation began...
The Tuskegee Airmen stepped on the scene and changed the game!

This group was a force to be reckoned with. In the movie, 'Red Tails', Col. Bullard (played by Terrence Howard) fought with everything in him to get his crew the opportunity to show and prove that they're just as good, if not better, as the white fighter pilots. He was persistent, stern, held his ground, and was finally given the go-ahead for his team to "assist" some white flight bombers.

Cast:
Terrence Howard (Col. Bullard)
Cuba Gooding Jr. (Major Stance)
Ne-Yo (Smoky the Musician/Comedian)
David Oyelowo (Joe Little a.k.a. Lightning)
Nate Parker (Marty Julian a.k.a. Easy)
Method Man (Sticks)

Review:
George Lucas did a wonderful job with this movie. The storyline was phenomenal. The Tuskegee Airmen fought a good fight. They went above and beyond the call of duty. They painted their tails red to stand out. Indeed they did. These tails stung like scorpions! Soared throughout the not-so friendly skies to take out any "Jerry" that got in their way. That's the term they used for the Germans. Yes, there was laughter throughout the movie as well. They not only "assisted" the white fighter pilots, but took out significant German territories. They earned the respect of not only the white soldiers, but the government as well.

Ne-Yo's character Smoky was full of jokes and music to entertain the unit. Musically speaking, Method Man even made a screen appearance.

The role of Easy was played by Actor Nate Parker. Y'all may know him from the movie PRIDE, with Terrence Howard & the late, great Bernie Mac. Easy was the leader of his unit who tried to keep the boys on the right track. No matter how often he'd try to steer Lightning in the right direction, he still wanted to do what he wanted to do when he wanted to do it. Lightning was very hard-headed. You couldn't tell him nothing! Yes, he was a great pilot, but he needed to learn how not to always be so quick to jump, fight, or respond to things.

There was also a guy they called Deacon or Deke. He was the religious one who believed in "Black Jesus". The others would laugh or shun him whenever he'd mention "Black Jesus".

Overall, this movie was action packed and full of courage, bravery, and inspiration.
Ladies, not to mention...it's also full of eye candy!

I truly enjoyed the movie! I know George Lucas had a hard time getting Hollywood to back this movie because of the African-American cast. Nevertheless, I hope so many people go to see this move just to prove Hollywood wrong. Black people indeed go to movies, and Black actors can be supported.
