It's You

Written on 01/01/09 @ 5:30 a.m. I can feel Taste Touch Smell And hear I know that You are near By the calmness within me From the assurance deep within To the pigment of my skin I know that it’s You That opens my eyes to see And gave me lungs to breathe A tongue to taste indeed It’s You Who keeps on blessing me It’s You Who breathed into nostrils And created Eve and descendants And for that, we’re forever grateful Keep loving the way You do Because we know that without You Nothing in life is possible I love You We love You And it’s all YOU!

Preoccupied Martha Vs. Opportunistic Mary

Written on 12/28/08 @ 9:43 a.m. On Sunday morning I was sitting at home reading a few passages from a book called “Prayers and Promises for Women”, and there was a scripture reference in the book of Psalms. As I began to turn to the scripture within my Everyday Life Amplified Version Bible with commentaries by Joyce Meyer, I stopped to read one of Joyce’s commentaries entitled, “Seek the ‘One Thing’”. Her commentary was basically tying in David’s prayer of asking God for “One Thing” (to be able to dwell in God’s presence all the days of his life) and the story of Martha and Mary. Martha was the preoccupied, busy one; while Mary was the opportunistic one. She didn’t want to miss the opportunity of dwelling in the presence of the Lord. (Luke 10: 38-42) Although I had read and heard the story of Mary and Martha several times before, however, on this particular morning the story really resonated with me because I always find myself being a busy body. Therefore, ...

Sideline or End Zone? Which Are You?

Are you a sideline chic or an end zone queen? If you ever notice, the people standing along the sidelines are just waiting for their turn to get in the game or just wishing they’d get called to play. If you look at the anxiousness or disappointment in their faces, then you’d understand where I’m going with this. That’s the same look of anxiousness or disappointment of sideline chics when they’re waiting on a dude to call them back after they’ve given up the cookies too soon. That’s the same look of disappointment of a sideline chic that has to wait for the dude to finish playing with his other chics to make time for you. The sideline chic has to sit back and wait for sloppy seconds. Sometimes she may have to watch as her dude treats the end zone queen like the royal highness she wishes he’d treat her. The sideline chic hardly ever gets to spend holidays with her dude. If she does, it’ll be later that evening or night. The end zone queen is the one he runs to or seeks after. Sh...

When You See Me

What do you see? What do you perceive? When you look at me? Is it confidence or conceit? Don’t get it twisted! I’ve been gifted With this radiance With this glow So when you see me I’m just lettin’ it show…. When you see me I’ma let my light shine ‘Cause you just don’t know What I had to do Just to make it through And the seeds I had to sow For this smile of mine to grow For this beauty of mine to show So when you see me I’ma be shining Like a true diamond Holdin’ my head up Struttin’ my stuff!

Much Thanks!

Well Thanksgiving has come and gone, and I have so much to be thankful for. I got the chance to spend time with my family in Louisiana. My nephew is getting taller...he's so cute! He's running around getting into everything. He's also singing nursery rhimes now, like Row, row, row ya' boat and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. His little face just lights up when he starts singing. I'm just thankful that I have the opportunity to spend time with family members whenever I can. There are many people who can't really say that because they may be separated by miles and miles or oceans from each other. Studies have also shown that the holidays are usually the time of year when most people are depressed. Maybe because this is usually the time of year when they miss their lost loved ones the most. That's why I titled this "Much Thanks", because we all need to give much thanks! So many of us take life for granted thinking that we will have time later to mend b...

Yes We Did!!!

Throughout the end of last year and all of this year I’d been speaking of New Beginnings. This truly has been a year of New Beginnings. The number 8 represents or symbolizes “New Beginnings”. Isn’t it ironic how Barack Obama was campaigning for Presidency in the same year of “New Beginnings”? He could’ve easily chosen to run in the previous election, but in actuality his time was now. I believe that God has a time, season, or purpose for everything, and this was Barack’s time to run the race and finish like a champion. During his campaign, Barack’s slogan was. “Yes We Can”. I want to put a strong emphasis on the word “We”, because Abraham Lincoln said it best; “This nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom ...and that government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth”. Lincoln was talking about all of us. We are the people! We are the people who not only kept the faith and believed that we could, but we did it! We chose, or el...

"Lincoln Heights" Tragedy

I am just devastated! I can't believe "Johnny Nightingale" is no longer on the show! It was just so suddenly! His character had a lot going for himself. He was very smart....and I like him and Lizzy's chemistry together. When Eddie walked into the girls' room with that look on his face right after he talked to the DA to grant Reuben immunity, I just knew the news was going to be something bad about Reuben. Who knew that something like this was going to happen. I at least thought Johnny would get the chance to win Lizzy back from the other dude she dumped him for. Now I know she's going to start feeling guilty b/c she didn't get the chance to express how much she truly cared for him. Whomever wrote this episode....I am so disappointed!!!! They could've at least put the boy in a coma...not just kill him off so suddenly!
