No More Big Mommas

Image
My husband and I had been previously reminiscing about our childhoods and how times were back then with our grand or great-grandparents. We both agreed that we now live in an era where there really are no more "Big Mommas". Big Mommas were not only loving and caring, they held the family together. They were the backbone of many African-American families across America! In many cases, if no one else was there for you, Big Momma could always be called upon or depended on. She was stern, yet sincere. She never was one to bite her tongue, as she believed in telling the truth...regardless if it may hurt your feelings. However, if you needed it and Big Momma had it...you got it! In my case, all I had to do was tell her, "If you don't give me some of your Pepsi, I'm going to cry." Lol...I was spoiled! Rightfully so, because I was the first Great-grandchild and the only child in my Great-grandparents' home. So, when my Great-grandmother (Big Mommie) died when ...

Superficial Irresponsibility

Image
Today I had a deeply concerning conversation with an acquaintance of mine. We discussed our frustrations, in quite a respectfully passionate way, regarding fellow Black women who are superficially irresponsible. Before I go into further details, let me put this disclaimer out... *DISCLAIMER* Neither I, nor my acquaintance have any hatred, malice, or ill-will towards our Black sistahs. Furthermore, nor do we harbor any feelings of jealousy or envy towards one another or any other Black woman for that matter, as we are very confident, critical thinking individuals who strongly believe in personal growth and development, Black unity, and love...so if you think this post is about bashing Black women, IT IS NOT! My goal with this post is to bring about awareness and to empower other Black women to regularly practice self-analyzation that brings about growth. We went on to discuss this Million Dollar question:  Why do we see so many Black women putting their wants before the...

Psychologically Trumped!

Image
Trump has just been Psychologically "trumped"! Finally...a group of Psychiatrists have put together a book titled The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump. The Editor/Forensic Psychiatrist of this book was interviewed by Lawrence O'Donnell on MSNBC tonight (10/05/2017), and many of the things she has said and mentioned from the book are confirmations of what I've been saying for quite some time now about Donald Trump. He really is NOT mentally fit to be President & needs to be diagnosed ASAP! Hopefully, this will be a wake-up call for him to get the help he needs; but I doubt it.

Epiphany

A few weeks ago I had an epiphany while listening to a YouTube video regarding a group of young women in Atlanta who were being held against their will in a house by a man who was threatening them and/or possibly forcing them into the sex slave industry (I would say business, but to me that should never be a business). The epiphany came when I started analyzing the situation by asking a series of questions: 1.) How did this happen? 2.) What exactly did this guy say to them to get them to willingly go with him? 3.) Why did they feel as though stripping is the only way to earn a living? 4.) How could they allow themselves to be so easily manipulated into such a situation? 5.) Did they not see the value in their own lives? 6.) What was their situation like at home, that would cause them to believe that this is the route to take in order to earn a living? 7.) What type of upbringing did these girls have? 8.) Did they come from a One or Two-Parent home? 9.) What was their relatio...

Love Yourself Enough

Image
So today I found out that Tameka "Tiny" Harris has filed for divorce from her husband, Clifford "T.I." Harris . Was I surprised? Not so much. However, with all the rumors of her cheating with Floyd Mayweather and orgy parties with T.I., I was holding out hope that those would be just that...rumors; and that they could work through whatever differences they may have had. Well, unfortunately, my hopes didn't turn out so well. Click HERE to read the article on the divorce filing. I, as well as many others, can only speculate what may or may not have gone wrong within their marriage, simply because we were not flies on their walls to find out all the details. However, I will say that I have always been and always will be a fan of Black Love & Unity; so I never like to see any of my people splitting up or getting a divorce. As an analytical person on the outside looking in, for the past few years it has appeared to me as if Tiny has been dealing with some d...

Let Me Rub You

Image
Lately I've been listening to a lot of R&B songs that I've loved the most; and one of those Artists would be Joe Thomas. For some reason, his music really inspires me to think about and write more romantic, sensuous love stories. With that being said, I started playing around with an idea for a book about women who have "Untapped" romance & sensuality, which lead me to Title the book: "Untapped". I'm still not sure if it will be a full novel, a collection of short stories, or just one short story. I just don't know yet. In the meantime, here's a snippet of something I will include in that book, which is a poem inspired by listening to R&B singer Joe Thomas' music. Here's the link to his website, so you can check out his melodic New Single titled: " So I Can Have You Back"... http://www.officialjoethomas.com/ Here's my poem... Let Me Rub You If you only knew What these hands could do... ...

Soul Ties

As I was sitting at my desk at work today listening to a new song being performed by one of my favorite Old School Hip-Hop groups called A Tribe Called Quest ( also known as ATCQ), I had a flashback of the 90's; which was a great era for music. Then I got to thinking about other groups in the 90's, such as Goodie Mob , Outkast , The Fugees ,& Jodeci , which then sent me deeper into a Flashback mode. I started asking myself the following questions: Since it appears as though a lot of great music was released in 1998, where were you that year? What were you doing? (One of my favorite Goodie Mob songs - Released in 1998) Oh boy...what did I ask those questions for? Immediately, I had opened "Pandora's Box", if you will; because all types of memories started flowing through my head, but the affect wasn't as strong as it used to be. One memory or season in particular had a huge impact on my life, which was my time as a college student at U.S.L. (Univers...
